America is Not Great

A materialistic society too easily paves the way for fascist rule. Fascism, so often misinterpreted, is simply an authoratative right-wing system where corporations have all the power. Corporations in America and their dictation of wealth in the country has been running rampant in modern history. In this wonderful country of our’s, the top 20% own 85% of the total wealth. Why is this you ask? Crooked politicians, powerful corporations, poor economic policies (trickle-down economics) and a docile population. Quite frankly, the bulk of the blame must be placed on the docile, inccompotent masses in this nation. Granted, the education system is faulty and is of no help to the people, however, we as a population are too accepting. Anything on our favorite news station is instantly fact. Critical thinking is irrelevant by the majority of the population and that is our biggest issue. The corruption is right in front of our eyes.

The food supply. We have a food supply in the U.S. that can be to blame for a lot of our major medical issues. The over consumption of GMO’s, high fructose corn syrup, nutrient-deficient foods and processed is outrageous. Most importantly, is we eat too much. The U.S. Department of Agriculture found that in 2011 the average American consumed nearly one ton of food. That’s 1,996 pounds of food a year. Doesn’t sound very healthy to me. On top of that, we don’t care where our food comes from. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s tests have found widespread pesticide contamination on popular fruits and vegetables, so maybe try to buy local or organic. In addition to not giving a shit, Americans consume 31% more packaged food than fresh food. And please, we need to stop eating fast food. Americans on average spend about 10% of their income on fast food annually; if you make $30,000/year that means you’re spend $3,000 on fast food. It is my honest opinion that there is a direct correlation between poor diet & the dumbing down of the masses. How does this connect to a fascist government? Well it ties right into the recent bill passed by congress to make GMO’s more common in our food through unlabeling. And what happens when terrible food makes you ill? You gotta run to Big Pharma for “help.”

Big Pharma is the cancer of America that is, well, not helping to beat cancer(along with various other diseases. How would finding a cure in any way boost their profits? It all come back to the almighty dollar; the root of all evil. Jesus’ father said that I think. In 2015 Bill Maher was quoted as saying, “15 years ago cancer drugs cost an average of $10,000 a year. Now it’s $10,000 a month because the pharmaceutical cartel owns the American gov every bit as much as Mexican drug lords own theirs.” I mean, you can’t really put it any better than that. I’m gonna give you a few very shocking statistics about our friendly federally drug runners:

  1.  – Nearly 70% of Americans are on at least one prescription drug, over half of Americans take two prescription drugs, and 20% of Americans are on at least five prescription drugs
  2. For every $1 pharmaceutical companies spend on R&D for a new drug, they spend $19 on advertising that drug
  3. – The percent markup of the prescription drug Xanax is approximately 570,000%. That means that the consumer cost per 100 tablets is roughly $137.79, while the cost of the active ingredients is $0.024
  4. In 2013, the total amount spent on drugs topped $329.2 billion. That’s roughly $1,000 per person
  5. In the United States, the cost of prescription drugs rises 12% every year

So what’s the solution? It’s simple in my opinion, but won’t be easily done. You’ve gotta put regulations on what these companies can do. As stated above, drug prices are rising at 12% every year. That’s horrifying. That’s capitalism gone wrong, and one step closer to fascism. Another way we can help correct it, marijuana legalization. CBD found in Cannabis is more useful for many illnesses than the drugs big Pharma is pushing to treat them. Why do you think it’s illegal? It’s not because you can get high off of it. It’s because all plants in the hemp family are fantastic for a ridiculous number of causes. Not to mention you can grow it yourself. There are viable alternatives out there in the world but the government and said corporations don’t want you to know about them. The fact of the matter is, no one who takes these pills believes they can survive without them & some couldn’t. The population needs a wake up call to alternative treatment and how badly they’re getting fucked. Not to mention the addictions that come along with some of these drugs. We’re simply uneducated.

Education in America is not only costly, but terrible. As I already mentioned above no many can form their own opinions or wants to question what they already believe, but a lot of that can be blamed on our education system. We’re 7th in literacy, 27th in math and 22nd in science. Not exactly great stats for the self-proclaimed “greatest country on Earth.”

The fact of the matter is this, we live in a country where material goods are God. I mean, Jesus is still 70% God but that doesn’t take away from our fascination with owning and consuming more. The continuous dumbing down of our culture through new products and monotonous advertisements/commercials is giving the financial & poltical elite just what they want. A docile, incompetent, uneducated, unaware, uninformed, helpless society. All of this is laying the stepping stones for lobbyist and big money interests to do what they want.

America is not great. Far from it to be honest. We’re 1st in 3 categories only: number of incarcerated citizens per capita, number of adults who believe angels are real and defense spending, where we spend more than the next 26 countries combined, 25 of whom are allies. So in a nation so proud to flaunt their freedom, we have the lowest number of free people!

All I’m asking of you is keep your eyes and opinions open. Everything you see is not always as it seems. Stay vigilant, stay questioning.
